Villa Adriana

Villa Adriana

Villa Adriana is an imposing and charming building from the Roman period. It was realized by Emperor Adrian, who wanted to reproduce near Rome so many artistic elements seen during his travels.

Villa Adriana appears, in fact, a mix of different styles and monumental buildings, made of Roman elements combined with Oriental ones: Greek Theatre, for example, or the Canopo, inspired by the famous Egyptian city, but also libraries, statues and architectural elements recalled the Oriental style.

In 1999, Villa Adriana became UNESCO World Heritage Site.
