Founded way back in 1927, the Ryder Cup is the only sporting event in which the Old Continent competes as a team: it is played in even-numbered years, alternately in a European or American town, between two teams composed of the 12 strongest European and US golfers. The tournament does not have a money prize pool: the prize is the cup and the honor of winning.
With its 150 hectares of land, 17 km from the center of Rome and its 27 spectacular holes around the castle of Marco Simone, whose first structures date back to the year 1000, the Roman Golf Club is getting ready to welcome the 50,000 spectators expected each day.
